How can I make sure people can hear the bell during sharing sessions?
Zoom uses noise suppression and echo cancellation by default which can cause the sound of the bell to be muted. In order to be able to hear the sound of the bell on Zoom, you need to enable the ‘Original sound setting for Musicians’ in two steps.
Step 1: Enable Original Sound
Desktop
- On the Home tab for Zoom, click the settings button (gear icon)
- Click the Audio tab
- Under the Audio Profile section, check the box saying Original sound for musicians
Mobile App
- Tap Settings
- Tap Meetings
- Tap to enable Use Original Sound
Step 2: Turn On Original Sound
Desktop
- Click Original Sound in the top-left corner. You can turn this on and off. You should have it ‘off’ when you are speaking, and ‘on’ when you invite the bell to sound.
Mobile App
- Tap the … More icon
- Tap Enable Original Sound. You can turn this on and off. You should have it ‘off’ when you are speaking, and ‘on’ when you invite the bell to sound.
If you have more questions you can find a helpful explanation video here. The sound of the bell is wonderful in the ‘Original Sound for Musicians’ setting. We hope that being able to hear the sound of the bell by enabling the setting will support your group sharing sessions.
